Dragon*Con is a ginormous anime/scifi/comic/fantasy genre convention that calls Atlanta, Georgia home. This is the place you will find armies of people in Star Wars Costumes, more slave lea’s than any fanboy would know what to do with, and loads of superheroes and Supermen by the dozen.

Dragon*Con has a whole host of costume contests. There is the Masquerade Costume Contest, with contestants given the chance to perform a short skit. For adults, there is an adults only contest, the Dragon After Dark Contest. The Friday Night Costume Contest focuses solely on craftsmanship of the costume, if you aren’t too handy with a needle you might just go with an authentic Star Wars Collectors Edition Costume. Too shy to enter a costume contest? Well there’s one for you too, called the Hallway Costume Contest, where staff go out in the halls and snap pictures of costumes they haven’t seen entered in other contests!

This Year a new film Four Days at Dragon*Con will go behind the scenes of the largest fan-run convention in the world, capturing the costumes, panels, and events of the 2010 Dragon*Con experience. Four Days at Dragon*Con will be distributed by American Public Television (APT) in April. If you’re interested in seeing this backstage view of conventional life you’ll need to check your local listings for more information. You may also check the digital feed for PBS and APT WORLD where it began streaming in March.

Dargon*Con also gives back to the community. Dragon*Con in 2010 raised $40,000 for the Lupus foundation!!

Every summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park (formerly Disney’s MGM studios) Disney celebrates Star Wars with Star Wars Weekends. Star Wars Weekends provides a unique opportunity to join Jedi Knights, Sith Lords, and everyone’s favorite wookie for special shows, unique presentations, and plenty of photo ops. This year’s event is sure to be out of this world because on Day 1 of Star Wars Weekends the newly remodeled and completely re-imagined Star Tours Ride is taking it’s maiden voyage to 3 new places including Luke Skywalker’s home planet of Tattooine and the megalopolitan metropolis planet of Coruscant, and you’ll be going on this adventure through the galaxy in 3D!!!

There will be plenty to like for Star Wars fans of all ages, for longtime fans of the Star Wars Universe, you will have a chance to meet different notable Star Wars celebrities. In order to guarantee you will meet your favorite Star Wars celeb, make sure you arrive very early to secure a spot in line. If you want to have some adult Star Wars themed fun but can’t make it to Florida anytime soon, your next close encounter should include a Princess Lea Slave Costume. For younger jedi there will be special training offered by The Jedi Training Academy that will give kids under 12 a chance to hone their lightsaber skills and prepare for a battle with Darth Vader himself!  The Jedi Training Academy will also offer the Padawan Mind Challenge where young jedi in training can test their wits in front of the Jedi Council. Each day will end with the Hyperspace Hoopla, a street show with fun music and ewoks, wookies and storm troopers dancing in the streets, be sure to have your camera’s ready to document this extra-terrestrial experience. You might consider blending in with the locals with some Star Wars costumes for the whole family. Star Wars presented many wonderful characters that led to many wonderful Halloween Costumes.  One of the most memorable characters is Darth Vader.  Darth Vader is the Dark Lord of the Sith & Supreme Commander. Vader originally appeared as the Empire’s villainous enforcer in the original Star Wars trilogy. This character inspired the Star Wars Darth Vader Collector’s (Supreme) Edition Adult Costume. In the original trilogy, George Lucas depicts Darth Vader as a fearsome cyborg who acts as the supreme commander of the brutal Galactic Empire. Throughout the films, Vader oppresses the galaxy and hunts down the members of the Rebel Alliance.

Now that this historic trilogy has come to and end Lord Vader finds himself trying to assume to role of supreme commander of a local supermarket.  He is the day shift manager and has many trials and tribulations that need to be dealt with.  The supreme commander has had a rather difficult time adapting to his role the supermarket manger.  The position requires a little more elegance and grace then he possessed as the leader of the Dark Side. Though Darth Vader has been known by many to be  intimidating and devious and will stop at nothing to defeat his enemies. Lord Vader has found that his new enemies are not threatened by his track record. Check out the video to watch your villain get acquainted with his new surroundings.
