Star Wars Weekends are Coming to Disney
Every summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park (formerly Disney’s MGM studios) Disney celebrates Star Wars with Star Wars Weekends. Star Wars Weekends provides a unique opportunity to join Jedi Knights, Sith Lords, and everyone’s favorite wookie for special shows, unique presentations, and plenty of photo ops. This year’s event is sure to be out of this world because on Day 1 of Star Wars Weekends the newly remodeled and completely re-imagined Star Tours Ride is taking it’s maiden voyage to 3 new places including Luke Skywalker’s home planet of Tattooine and the megalopolitan metropolis planet of Coruscant, and you’ll be going on this adventure through the galaxy in 3D!!!
There will be plenty to like for Star Wars fans of all ages, for longtime fans of the Star Wars Universe, you will have a chance to meet different notable Star Wars celebrities. In order to guarantee you will meet your favorite Star Wars celeb, make sure you arrive very early to secure a spot in line. If you want to have some adult Star Wars themed fun but can’t make it to Florida anytime soon, your next close encounter should include a Princess Lea Slave Costume. For younger jedi there will be special training offered by The Jedi Training Academy that will give kids under 12 a chance to hone their lightsaber skills and prepare for a battle with Darth Vader himself! The Jedi Training Academy will also offer the Padawan Mind Challenge where young jedi in training can test their wits in front of the Jedi Council. Each day will end with the Hyperspace Hoopla, a street show with fun music and ewoks, wookies and storm troopers dancing in the streets, be sure to have your camera’s ready to document this extra-terrestrial experience. You might consider blending in with the locals with some Star Wars costumes for the whole family.
